![]() The founder and owner of Digital Crossing, Inc., Tatum Farmer, got his start at the age of 8 when his mother bought him his very first computer. At a young age, Mr. Farmer won various regional programming contests in his hometown of Allentown, PA. Tatum Farmer attended Drexel University from 1992 to 1997. Upon completion of his college education, Mr. Farmer earned a Bachelor's of Science degree with a major in Information Science as well as two minors, Computer Science and World History & Politics. Upon graduation, Mr. Farmer was hired by IBM for his mainframe and client-server programming skills as well as his extensive networking skills. During his employment with IBM, Mr. Farmer started accumulating expertise in UNIX/AIX. This knowledge would later allow Mr. Farmer to become an IBM Certified Specialist in UNIX/AIX as well as a senior level administrator and team leader for several large companies in the region. The culmination of Mr. Farmer's love for technology as well as the increasing number of side jobs working on computers for friends and colleagues prompted Mr. Farmer to found his company. In its infancy, Digital Crossing was solely dedicated to bridging the "digital divide" in Philadelphia. This was the best way for Mr. Farmer to use his expertise to give back to the community. While Digital Crossing's offerings have expanded to include Internet and Business Computing services, Mr. Farmer continues to provide low-cost and donated computing resources to those with limited access. He also serves on the Technology Committee for a local charter school. When asked about his success, Mr. Farmer comments, "If it were not for my mom and that first computer, I would be sitting here recounting what could have been instead of what gratefully is today." His goal for Digital Crossing, Inc. is that it becomes a long-standing and reputable resource for those interested in the company's services. |
